Applesauce Cookies

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of flour
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 cup applesauce
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 cup oatmeal
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup of raisins (optional)
  • 1/2 cup of butter
  • 1/2 cup of nuts (optional)
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1/2 cup of chocolate chips



Directions

Sift together flour, soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set aside. In another bowl, mix butter, sugar, and eggs. Add applesauce (we make our own) and dry ingredients. Mix in the sifted ingredients and mix real well, until batter is smooth. Drop by teaspoon onto a cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes

Applesauce Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup CRISCO all-vegetable shortening or 1/2 CRISCO Stick
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup applesauce
  • 2-1/2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts



Directions

Preheat oven to 375ºF. In mixing bowl, blend the Crisco shortening or sticks, sugar, and egg. Beat in the applesauce till well blended. Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and cloves. Stir into creamed mixture; then mix in the raisins and nuts. Drop from teaspoon 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375ºF about 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on rack.
